Where to start theming

I have been poking around for a bit, but I am unsure which files we are suppose to be editing (css/html)

I understand custom.css, but its ok if I start hacking away at home.php, etc… right?

Do most people have only the sole buddypress-home/ folder per install?

And if you go to a different folder for the home theme, does it also have to contain the css folder with the css loader and such?

Just trying to figure out how others are starting.

    Thanks

    Matt

It’s okay to do anything you want with the theme files, just as you would do in WordPress.

You don’t need the loader.php stuff if you don’t want to, however, it does add some extra functionality, such as cross theme CSS and the ability to selectively load styles.

    You should also read this:

    Cool Andy, thanks.

That was exactly the starting point I was looking for.
