Why don't group comments show to non-users?

Why is it that non-users, or people that aren’t logged in, can see posts inside groups, but can’t see comments made on the posts in that group?

I would like everyone to be able to see all of the activity on my site.

WordPress 3.8.2 running Twenty Fourteen theme.
    BuddyPress Version 1.9.2

    Thanks!

Did you remove the comment code from

    buddypress/bp-templates/bp-legacy/buddypress/activity/entry.php

or wrap the code in a check if user is logged in?

No, I didn’t do either of those. I haven’t messed with any code in BuddyPress. The only thing I’ve altered is in header.php, and I’ve gone back to a clean install of this theme, and nothing changed.

Switch theme and test. I know Twenty Fourteen has issues with bp

Sorry, I should have included that. I’ve tried about five different themes, with the same result. I have also deactivated all unnecessary plugins.

And, it’s not just this one. I have another installation on the same domain, with the same problem. http://cmssix.com/free-green-screen-videos/

go into the file and check if the code is there. BuddyPress should be installed on one domain. Is this multisite?

I’ve got it opened up. What am I looking for?

So, I started going through different themes hoping one would work, and I came across one called X2 that actually showed comments, but I don’t care for the look of the theme. But, I figured if I came across one, then there has to be more, right?

I have gone through about twenty themes with no luck (except for x2).

Do any WordPress themes actually work with BuddyPress?

BuddyPress plugin supplies the template files UNLESS the theme has included them. Only BuddyPress specific themes would include the files. That’s why I asked you to switch to Twenty Twelve so it would use the files from the BP plug folder.

It may be a plugin causing issue. You can deactivate plugins one by one and test each.

I deactivated all the plugins, except BuddyPress. Still the same.

Okay, Twenty Twelve works(the one I didn’t try). I must be missing where you said to try Twenty Twelve.

    Thanks.

Nope. I take it back. I made the same mistake I made before; I was logged in, so of course I could see the comments.

    Still doesn’t work.

I would deactivate and delete BuddyPress and then re download it and install. Deleting it doesn’t delete settings. Make sure all your BuddyPress plugins are deactivated first.

Having the site installed in a subfolder may be an issue as well.

    Still doesn’t work.

I have searched through at least 100 themes, and I’ve found two that show comments to people who aren’t logged in: x2 and Custom Community. Both of these themes appear to be made by the same person, and I really don’t care for either of these themes.

I would like to use Twenty Fourteen, and I have not been able to find anyone using this theme, who is also having this problem.

Also, the plugin BuddyPress Sitewide Activity shows all comments to people who are not logged in, but I don’t want that in my sidebar, and it doesn’t solve the groups problem.

If it is a problem with WordPress being in a subfolder, what would allow these two themes and the plugin to still work?

So, that’s it? Nobody has a solution? Does BuddyPress only work correctly with two themes?
