Why OptionsBar With BuddyBar?

A user-interface question: I have the buddybar enabled for all logged-in members. All users must be logged-in to use the site. The buddy includes such items as profile, groups and friends under the “My Account” menu. Isn’t the optionsbar (left-most column in profiles) superfluous in such cases?

What code do I use to remove that bar (it consumes a third of the page, after all).

    Thanks.

(I’m using the latest trunk and the default theme with custom.css enabled.)

It’s not extra because it’s a design choice. If you don’t want it, remove it.

I have removed the optionsbar. I’m currently looking for the code to move the vcard image from the main profile content area into the userbar and widening the width of #main-column.

I’m looking to replicate the profile pages either here or WordPress.org.
