Wierd character showing up in Site Wide Activity

I have a fresh install of WPMU and Buddypress and everything seems to be working fine except one thing. In my site wide activity widget, before all the dates (3 days, 6 hours ago) there is a wierd diamond character with a question mark in it. It looks like the line below:

admin created the group Test Group ï¿½ 3 days, 6 hours ago

Any ideas?
