Will BP adminbar survive WP 3.1?

I’m curious if anyone knows whether BP will toss out its own adminbar and plug into the new WP 3.1 adminbar instead. I’m going to guess no, requiring BP sites to manually shut off the WP adminbar ( add_filter( ‘show_admin_bar’, ‘__return_false’ ); in functions.php ) so that the BP adminbar isn’t covered, but I’d like to know for sure from someone on the inside.

BP 1.3 requires WP 3.1, and we’re replacing the admin bar (last I knew).

Boone said John said this is time-permitting but is a puntable issue.

So for now the existing BP adminbar stays? I think that’s what you’re saying… I’m hooking into the BP adminbar so I don’t want a simple WP upgrade to totally screw up my adminbar situation :-L

It’s possible that there will be a version of the BP buddybar that is built into the WP 3.1 admin bar by the time the next version of BuddyPress comes out. However, I do not think that the BP Buddybar will be taken out of BP in the next version in any case, as it would disrupt many people who have modified and extended it. Worst case scenario, the Buddybar will be taken out and put into a plugin so that site admins will have the option of installing it for that Classic Look ;)
