will buddypress work on managed wp with go daddy hosting

hi there, am considering installing buddypress but have concerns that it may not work with go daddy hosting and managed wp. they’re not sure if it will or not???
they said if it requires cron functionality it will not. could someone please tell me if this is required or if anyone has experiences in using buddypress with go daddy?? any help would be appreciated. thanks
