WordPress/BuddyPress Integration

    Good morning!

I came here to understand this process before I jumped all the way in and risked wasting money.

I wanted to gain some understanding/ clarification on how WordPress and BuddyPress play along together and if it were possible to bring the two together under the same roof.

What I am looking to do is build a functional website for my business. I have decided to use the following theme: http://themeforest.net/item/x-the-ultimate-wordpress-theme/5871901

Under this same .com, I want to install BuddyPress. Not only this, I wish to install the following theme for it: http://themeforest.net/item/social-buddy-wordpress-buddypress-theme/3691122

The BuddyPress will be used for our team members only. I wanted us to be able to develop our project on-site. This is to eliminate having to use several systems to do our work (off-site forums, GroupMe, Google Drive, etc).

Can I have a dedicated button in our Menu bar take us to the BuddyPress forums? Or do I need an entirely new domain for this? And is it possible to install the SocialBuddy theme for BuddyPress and the X Theme for WordPress all under the same .com?

Sorry if this is confusing. I’m trying my best to explain what’s in my head. This is a bit confusing for me hence why I want to figure out this process now rather purchasing everything and finding out this may not be possible.

Any feedback will be greatly appreciated.

you can only have one theme active at a time. also i think personally, buddypress would make a bad alternative for google drive since its really not the same thing at all.

as for putting a menu item to take users to the main forum page that will not be a problem.

it sounds like you may want try using wordpress first and then add buddypress once you are a little more familiar with it before adding buddypress to the mix.

It sounds to me like this is a two site WordPress Multisite setup.Your best starting point is set up one site then read the WordPress Codex on setting up multisite and add the project management site as a subdirectory or sub domain.
