wp post links in activity stream header use post id instead of post slug

    Hi all,

I would be grateful for any help on this, as I had posted a topic about 6 months ago but the issue was still not resolved.

I have a wp post titled ‘This Is Great’. The slug for this post=thisisgreat.
A user comments on this post. An item is created in the activity stream with this comment. (1)Now, If I click on the link to the post, I get a 404. When I inspect the element to see the target url, its formatted like this….
    example.com/community/?p=8. I have permalinks enabled %postname%.

I have tried reinstalling, setting permalinks, then installing bp. I’ve also resaved the permalink structure but that hasn’t worked

    bp 2.0.2
    wp 4.1

only bp installed running the default child theme

This is working as intended. The reason is that if we made those links in the Activity Stream to use your site’s normal permalink pattern, if the permalink is changed in the future, all the old links in the Activity Stream would probably break. It’s not scalable to re-generate all those links when the permalinks are changed, especially on giant sites.

In short, I wouldn’t worry about this. The ?p= style links should redirect to the post’s full/normal URL, so it has minimal affect on your users.
