WP Salted passwords

    Hi,

I’m moving my site from PHP-Nuke to Buddypress wordpress platform. I saw that WP is using different kind of hash passwords (salted) then phpnuke which is on standard MD5 (plz correct me if I’m word).

Because I have over 10.000 registered users, I’m wondering if there is any chance to change all md5 passwords to WP? I don’t wish that when people come to my new site starts to wondering whats wrong with their passwords…

Does anyone have any idea how can I solve this problem?

MD5 passwords will still work with WordPress, but they will be less secure.

Are you sure? I tried to migrate my old database to buddypress with MD5 passwords but couldn’t log in. Only with function new password I manage to log in.

All I know is if you edit the DB and MD5 a value in the password field you can still log in with that value.
