WP Users convert to BP Members in 1.9?

Hello,
Will the new release – which sounds great, TY! – have the ability to convert, or recognize, WP “users” into BP “members”?

And is 1.9 available as a beta for us civilians to check out?

Right now only people who have signed after I installed Buddypress show up as members.

All of my users – about 2500 of them – that signed up prior to my installing BuddyPress do not show up under “members”.

Can you tell me how I get them to show as “members” on my site?

They may need to login once before they show in members lists.
