wysiwig toolbar on group description?

    I’m using wordpress version 4.2.2
    Buddypress version 2.2.3.1
I am using a child theme of twentyfifteen.
I can’t send a link to my site as it’s still in development.

I am using BuddyPress with the plugins :
    -BuddyPress Groups Extras
    -BP Simple Front End Post
    -BP Default Group Tab
    -Blog categories for groups

I would like to be able to add formatting to my group descriptions.

In admin – I can seemingly edit the description in the sections Groups and Groups Pages. But any changes I make aren’t saved.

I can edit the description on the front end of the site when in that group as an administrator, but I can’t add any formatting.
Even if I add formatting in code, it isn’t saved.

Can anybody help explain what I can do to resolve this?
I would like to either have a toolbar on the description on the frontend, or be able to edit in the backend and for it to save my changes.

    thanks!

Does anybody know if it’s possible to add formatting to a group description?

For basic security consideration, a form field is strictly restricted to text only. That’s why you haven’t access to a text editor for a group description field.

If despite this, you want add some html tags to the group description, you can remove some of the filters. But be warned that that will create a security hole on your site and don’t expect help for such a sensible hack !

Thanks for your reply danbp – I certainly don’t want to do anything that will impact on security!
I’ll try and come at it from another angle…
