xprofile extension API? Do we have that?

As of 1.1, do we have xprofile extension API just like groups?

If we had it, Andy’s external blog plugin could be written for profiles, too. I think it’s a simple, but excellent plugin most of bp users wanted for long time. But we’d like to see it available for profiles.
