Xprofile.php add bulk registration code {noob}

Hey community.
Im mocking up an idea I have using buddy press. Now I have been using wordpress for about 4 months and I have grasp the idea of editing the php files. I have found out how to add a bulk list of states for my registration. The problem is where? I’m reading pages of code and can’t find the right xprofile.php. I put in a genric “bjfhwbgrger) and tried to hunt it but my eyes are killing me! I have another field with about 40 choices to and dont want to manually add 90 entries.
