BuddyPress doesn’t have built-in shortcodes at all.

You can google for “buddypress shortcodes” to find what you might need.

Make sure, that you are looking in a correct place for a registered user.
In case of WordPress Multisite – user can be listed in Network admin area, but NOT listed in individual sites Users.

I deactivated all plugins and switched to a stock theme.

The problem remained.

I’m not sure that specific field will be added to core but I’m sure a plugin will be easy to build
