    This may be a stupid question, but how do I allow Buddypress members to blog and show the blogs on my home page.

    To show the blogs on the homepage you can go into settings/reading in your wordpress admin (http://codex.wordpress.org/Creating_a_Static_Front_Page) and then chose the blogs page (the one you chose in buddypress settings/pages) to show as your front page.
