In reply to: Buddypress themes, what first?
I vote for the facebook look and not a blog look. The main purpose is a social network, not a blog. People can create blogs for themselves, but the main selling point is social network.
Just my thoughs
In reply to: Buddypress themes, what first?I second the buddybook theme. Afterall, when you think social media you think facebook and buddypress has much in common with it. The Wire, Groups, Activities.
In reply to: Is this the way Forums are supposed to work?Well this discussion seems to have covered the topic well, but I wanted to voice my support of the idea of having a site wide forum with its own categories seperate from Groups.
Such forum can act as support and general discussion for the site away from the groups.
Would it be feasable to have a second bbPress install and use that for the site wide forum, or would that conflict with the bbPress already shipped due to tables and credentials?
In reply to: Overriding ajax.js and ajax.phpI am, I actually copied the entire parent over to the child. Everything works fine except functions.php and the ajax components.
I don’t mind troubleshooting it myself, but not sure where to start looking. Where in the code does it control which component to load, child or parent?
I am now thinking of getting rid of the parent all together and just keep a straight theme. I don’t really like this parent child theme. I like the parent as a guiding factor, but not as the controlling theme.
Any issues with doing so other than updates not taking effect on the now non-existing parent theme?
In reply to: Replacing functions.php renders blank pageI thought I created a blank file with no content. I will test it again later and post back.
In reply to: What is the blog area?I know how it runs, and what it runs on. Which user’s blog is it? the combined blogs? or admin blog?
