Activation link in 1.7-bleeding

    Hi,
I’ve been setting up a site using the dev download of BuddyPress 1.7, and all seems to be going well, but I’ve come across a problem just now and can’t figure out how to fix it.
Basically, when a user creates a new account through the front-end, an activation email is sent out, but the activation link in the email points to:
    /wp-activate.php?key={etc}
    rather than
/activate?key={etc} <- this is the permalink set up through the backend BP admin pages.

If I go to the /activate url directly, activation is successful and all is well…

I imagine this is just to do with 1.7, as I can't find any references to it anywhere on Google, but can someone give a pointer as to how to fix it?

In the BP settings in the wp-admin area, do you have a page mapped to the “Registration” component?

    Hi,
Yes, I have a page for registration, /register. This is the page I use to create the new accounts. (Which then have the incorrect activation links)
    Is that what you mean?

Yep, that’s totally what I meant, but what I actually meant to say, was about the “Activate” page mapping on the same screen. Is that set? Sorry for confusion :)

Yeah, that one is set to point to /activate. As I say, that page does actually work, but the link to the page isn’t correct in the activation email.
The email always has the default wp-activate instead of the page defined in BP settings.

Does everything else in BuddyPress seem to work?

Yeah seems to. It is the 1.7 dev version though. I’ll give it a go with twenty twelve theme just to check tomorrow, but it just seems to be ignoring the admin setting completely, so I don’t know that it’ll be theme related.

Have just tried using Twenty Twelve, and now, rather than giving a page not found error, it redirects to:
    /wp-login.php?action=register
Basically still ignoring the setting in BP Admin.
I assume it’s a bug that’ll be fixed, but do you know if there is a filter I can use to over-ride it in the meantime?

    Cheers

If the page mapping is correct, and you’ve tried disabling all other plugins to see if the problem goes away, please report a bug on https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org so that someone can investigate. You can use your username and password from this site. Thanks!

Hasn’t @ray already raised this on the trac?

We’ve also been having issues with activation links not redirecting correctly in 1.7

Thought I’d replied to this earlier. Have already put i the bug report – Apologies if it’s a repeat – didn’t see anything similar when I searched.

Better to have duplicates than none at all. :)

Sorry but I have just created another ticket for this too.

    http://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/4760

I have been running 1.7 on the site I’m testing for weeks and it seems like it hasn’t been a problem for the whole life of 1.7 as some users are fine and other users haven’t been able to activate at a later date.

Unfortunately I don’t know how to find out any sort of timeline for when this broke.
