Buddypress user account in sidebar using other themes

I am using catalyst theme and I have added buddypress to it. I have also used BuddyPress Template Pack.

If I deactivate my theme and use buddypress theme, I get a nice user account section with login-logout, avatar and username in the sidebar (as well as having the user account in the top bar). When I use my own theme, I only have the top bar user account.

Is there a plugin or any modification that can insert the default user account in the sidebar and removes it from top bar while using my own theme?

I have tried buddypress sidebar plugin, but that is not what I need. That doesn’t provide me with user account.

    Thanks for any help! :)

Not to rock the boat, but if you have BuddyPress 1.7+ activated in your site, you shouldn’t need to install/activate that BP Template Pack plugin anymore in most cases.

I would create a child theme of the Catalyst theme and then copy over your catalyst theme’s sidebar.php into your child theme folder with the relevant login code from the BP Default theme’s sidebar.php. Activate the child theme.
