Custom post Types in Activity Stream

its killing me..it really is…i have a custom post type called “albums”
and i just wanna have to show in the activity stream …possibly with a thumbnail of the featured image
ive been looking at codes but i cant make head or tails as to why they dont work when i slide them into my function file
somebody save me
