Getting reCaptcha to work with /register?

I’m trying to make reCaptcha (http://recaptcha.net/plugins/wordpress/) appear in the register page of buddypress, currently it doesn’t appear on either /register or /wp-signup.php and Im stuck. It only appears in the comment section of the main blog.

If it’s not possible to get reCaptcah workign is there an alternative way to prevent spam uers from signing up on wordpress mu?

I’ve seen a bp plugin, have you searched the directory, or search “buddypress” on wp.org’s plugin directory?
