Is there a shortcode for usernames?

Hi, I would like to add a greeting to my homepage once users log in that references their name, i.e. Hello, “Name” … where the name would display that of the current logged in user.

Can’t seem to find any sites that describe how to do this in buddypress, does anyone know the shortcode for this?

If there’s a shortcode for WordPress for this, it should work for BuddyPress, as it’s the same name system underneath.

It’s something one would normally do in a template file, rather than a shortcode in page content.

http://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/wp_get_current_user ( should ) work with buddypress…

To personalise the admin bar I use something like this (bp version 1.5.7)
