This is a well established site … up and running with BuddyPress and bbPress for just over 2 years. Recently (say the past few weeks … I’d guess since applying the latest updates) users are reporting problems with viewing their account/profile pages.

The behavior is consistent but the pages do vary.

For example this link
http://canadianvintageradio.com/members/lee
should display the member’s profile. Instead it’s redirecting to the forum topic

For Sale:Lee Deforest signed autobiography

If I try to access My Account -> Settings -> Profile of my own account I end up at a forum topic attachment with the title profile.gif

In each case it’s using a word in the original url and finding a forum post with that same word somewhere in the title/url.

I keep the plugins pretty much up to date but might have skipped a version if they were released close together.

I’ve tried resaving the Permalinks and running the bbPress repair tools.

I’ve just had a user report a similar occurrence between forum topics. He clicked on the title of one forum topic and was automatically re-directed to a completely different topic (one that had the word ‘view’ in the title).

@karlajw which updates – BP. WP. Canvas theme, and/or other plugins? When did you start using the Canvas theme? Last time I saw the theme mentioned in this forum (last year), it was not compatible with BuddyPress. If you change to the Twenty Fourteen theme and clear cache, are the issues resolved?

Hi @mercime, thanks for the suggestions.

I finally had a chance to create a test site where I could deactivate and re-activate everything without worry.

Turns out it’s the NextGen Gallery plugin that is not playing nice with BuddyPress

No fix for it yet. I will just have to keep NextGen Gallery deactivated until there’s a fix or replace it entirely.
