[Resolved] Menu links not working after 1.6.4. upgrade

The site I’m working on is here: http://flaming-giraffe.net/wwsureunion/

After updating to 1.6.4 my dropdown menu links don’t work. In the admin view the content is still there, and its published, and the link structure looks the same, but when you actually navigate to a linked page (via the menu or just pasting the link manually into the browser) it gives a “page not found” message.

If you search for a page it shows up in the results, content and all, but clicking the page link still gives a “page not found” error.

This is the same using the default page menu-ing (the way it was pre-update) or when I created a custom menu. Any ideas? As luck would have it, I have a conference call tonight to discuss it, and its supposed to be ready in the next few days (but isn’t that always the case 🙂

@abarclay Strange. All menu links to BuddyPress components are working so I will guess that something changed possibly in the hierarchical structure of your other pages. To double-check, go to Appearance > Menus and Create a New Menu. Add links to the New Menu and save. Use that New Menu for your Primary Navigation and save. Check if issue is resolved.

Hi there – that was what I tried when the original tabs stopped working. I created a new menu, selected all the pages I wanted from the pages list and set that as my new default menu. Tried creating a new one just to double check. No joy, still does the same thing. Still have the BP components working, the pages I made not, but they’re find-able by searching.

I updated bbPress and JetPack at the same time, but not WordPress itself (I’m on 3.5). I’m using the Post name permalink option which is what I was using before, I believe – I know on other blogs that caused trouble but the link shown on the edit pages matches the links which fail to display so no mismatch there. I’m perplexed (but also new to BP).

UPDATE: Wow, for no apparent reason it looks like this is working now?! I have no idea how that happened, unless there’s some delay between me making a change on the back end and it showing up live (database changes made to different database than the live database??).

So looks like all is well now. Damned weird, but hey. Thanks! For whatever you did 🙂

@abarclay Great. All’s well that ends well 🙂
    Marking this as resolved.
