Notification is not working properly

I’m using BP 1.2.2.1 + WP 2.9.1.

Friendship requests/acceptances and messages notification work perfectly.

There’s no notification for mention or reply to user’s activity.

What could wrong?

By default, notifications are not created for replied updates or mentions.

You’ll have to create a plugin for that.

Oh, I didn’t know that.

I thought there were some notification messages in .pot?

Is there available plugin?

I would really, really love to learn how to create new types of notifications.

I’ve been tracking this topic for a few weeks now. I’ve figured out the functions for inserting a notification into the database, but for some reason, a notification is not generated to the user:
