Oembed

  • Hi

Adding a picture works great on the main activity feed but shows only the url on the profile page of the user and the link does not work it seems cut off at the end.

Also replies to posts with pictures only show the url not the image

Can an image be displayed instead ?

    Thanks

    2.9.2

    1.2.3

I assume you’re talking about the oEmbed for BP plugin?

Adding a picture works great on the main activity feed but shows only the url on the profile page

    This is the intention.

and the link does not work it seems cut off at the end.

This isn’t a problem with the plugin, but rather with the way BuddyPress parses text for the latest update.

Also replies to posts with pictures only show the url not the image

Works for me. Make sure you didn’t tamper with the bp-oembed-config.php file.

    Hi

    Thanks for the reply :-)

    I don’t tamper – because I have no idea how too :-)

What would you suggest for this problem ?

    Thanks

I need an example of the image URL you’re using for the main update and for the replies.

    Hi

    This is the url

    ugly feet

It displays the image in the main activity stream for the person who posts it but when someone replies to the image their reply displays the url not the image in the activity stream – I hope you understand :-)

    Thanks again

    Oh

I am in china and we all use youku.com here – how can I add that so it can work in bp ?

    youtube is blocked here :-(

    Thanks

Just tested this on a fresh install of WP 2.9.2 and BP 1.2.3.

    It’s working for me.

Please try deactivating the plugin and deleting the plugin folder entirely, then re-download and activate the plugin again.

ok will try now – thanks

    Ahh I see now… yeah that’s intentional.

    I thought you meant this:

ok thanks :-) glad to know it’s working as you designed :-)

Shame I can’t see your image – maybe cos I’m in China :-(

Any clues on how I could add youku.com to the script ?

    Thanks

    @r-a-y

You can manually add video sites if you know a little code:

    https://codex.wordpress.org/Embeds#How_Can_I_Add_Support_For_More_Websites.3F

My plan is to create a new plugin that will offer support for more 3rd party sites.

I might make Youku one of them; though you can sway me over with a donation ;)

love to donate – I really believe in you guys doing all this work :-) only trouble is I am in China so I need another way other than paypal….

let me know if you can accept another way – or there’s a free spare bed to sleep if you ever come over ;-)

    code – hahaha not something I can do… :-(

    Thanks
