Please help me understand…

I am seeing that there are multiple places to setup topic/forums in my install. But they do not seem to really align. Can someone explain this to me?

First is the activity/group linking on the top bar when logged in: site name/my account/dashboard/notifications
second is in the dashboard menus on the left: forums/Topics/replies

Why don’t these align? Or is it an aspect that has been built wrong in my custom install? I like the look of what the dashboard creates, but the it’s quite different from what the other area does/looks like. We have not customized any of that area, just the “skin around it”.

Is this about BBpress vs. BP?

It sounds like you have both bbPress installed (maybe as a WP plugin?) as well as buddyPress Discussion Forums enabled (which are a watered-down version of bbPress). Any insight on your ‘custom install’ would be quite helpful.

Site url? WP/BP versions?

I have done that install as documented in your link @Traek.

So, Yes, i have BBpress installed as a plugin along with Buddypress. I felt it was required. Perhaps I’m confusing things?
