[Resolved] Installing BuddyPress – no valid header?

I am working on adding BuddyPress to an existing site (indieconnect.com). WordPress 3.3.1, Atahualpa theme 3.7.3, and BuddyPress 1.5.5. I installed BuddyPress and activated it. It gave me a message that my theme needed to be upgraded for BuddyPress compatibility and presented 3 plugins (BuddyPress Template Pack, BuddyPress Toolbar and Dynamic Widgets). I attempted to install these plugins but got an error saying that the install failed. I deactivated BuddyPress and then I could see the plugins. When I activated the BuddyPress Template Pack the BP Compatibility menu does not show up in Appearance (or any where else). I then activated BuddyPress and I got this error message:
“The plugin bp-template-pack/loader.php has been deactivated due to an error: The plugin does not have a valid header.”
The system told me that I had activated the BP Template Pack but had not completed configuring it. It directed me to the BP Compatibility page, but when I clicked on the link I got:
“You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page.”
I am kinda stymied. Any thoughts?

== I attempted to install these plugins ==
You only need the BP Template Pack plugin.

== When I activated the BuddyPress Template Pack the BP Compatibility menu does not show up in Appearance (or any where else). ==
BP Compatiblity link does not show up in dashboard menu Appearance if BuddyPress is not activated

== The plugin does not have a valid header ==
Delete the BP Template pack plugin from your installation. Then activate BuddyPress plugin first, then download and install new BP Template Pack plugin files and activate.

I deleted BP Template Pack plugin. I then activated BuddyPress. I re-installed the BP Template Pack plugin. When I tried to activate it I got this error:

“The plugin does not have a valid header.”

In order to repeat the process (so I could report the results accurately) I had to deactivate BuddyPress. Only then could I see BP Template Pack plugin to delete.

== I re-installed the BP Template Pack plugin. When I tried to activate it I got this error: “The plugin does not have a valid header.” ==

    Usually, that happens because of:

    1) double-nested plugin folder
    – double check that plugin template files are in wp-content/plugins/bp-template-pack/ and NOT in wp-content/plugins/bp-template-pack/bp-template-pack/

    2) Incomplete plugin file transfers
    – download zip file of BP template pack plugin to your computer, unzip, then go to inside folder with files and upload via FTP to wp-content/plugins/

    3) The “header” of the plugin in not valid
    – could not be the reason in this case because this plugin’s header is valid for sure

So the guys who run the server had a hiccup and all of a sudden it is more better. I can see that stuff has been installed. I still need to configure, but it looks like I am past this bump. Thank you!
