Subscriber dashboard link in WP/BP top bar

Subscribers can access part of the wordpress admin dashboard by going to the BP/WP bar at the top and to the left they can go down to dashboard. They never had the ability to do so using any other version of BP or WP
I’m using BP 1.6.3 and WP 3.5.
Do I really have to get something (plugin, etc) just to remove the dashboard option for subscribers?
