SuperGroups (Groups with an extended activity stream)

What I would like to see is a feature for admins to create a super group. This group has the same functions as a regular Group but the activity stream displays not only group related information, but also “regular” activity from it’s users.

The motivation behind this idea is that it allows international communities to create a super group which can display all the information from a certain country/region. A user can then visit http://www.mycommunity.com/groups/usa and he would have a complete overview of the updates in his homecountry. users could be added to the group automatically on signup when they pick USA as their country (auto group join plugin allows this)

I hope this could get implemented in the core or in the form of a plugin, it would be the final step for users to set up a international community or a big community with different larger sub-groups.

Nice. I was actually thinking about the same thing!

    So +1 for me!

I would be already happy if the already existing Private-Groups would work properly……

Why are you spamming every feature request post erich73?

This the “Ideas” forum, and it where people post new ideas. Just because you have your opinion that devs should “stop all new features” that doesn´t necessarily mean that everybody shares your opinion. Please stop forcing your opinions on others….

sorry, I have missed that this has been posted in the “ideas forum”.

I am definitely not against any new features & Supergroups is a great idea from Bowe.

Thanks for outing me as a spammer ;-)

I don’t know if that correctly reflects Erich73’s opinion, but I wholeheartedly share it.

Groups are Buddypress’ killer app imho, but I could come up with dozens of other use cases for groups. Why does everything have to be built into the core?

Is there anyone who would like to develop this for me? I’m willing to spend some money on this feature :)

I’ve had more success with finding developers by finding them instead of hoping for them to find me. :)

Haha yeah I’m also kinda combining both approaches, and approaching good developer personally :).. But it’s always good to show your interest to see something developed in public :)
