I would like to use BuddyPress for my staff in a veterinary practice.

I’m trying to get in the 21st century and need a theme to use or maybe just use the plugin on my current site. This is for a veterinary business.

    I need:
    1. a communications log/blog (I’m still in the dark ages using dos ccMail)
    2. a place for my employee manual
    3. a place for my training materials (procedure manual)
    4. a place to put the work schedule which is created every 2 weeks in a Timeclock program

    I don’t mind buying a theme.

I already have a wp website so if I can just use the Buddypress plugin on that and have it so I can assign passwords to staff members without messing up my current site I would like to know that too. My current site is some variant of 2010 called Redux with an anonymous author. It’s att http://www.sunnycrestanimalcare.com

Thanks in advance for any help

Drdick8, in the next major version of BP (1.7) theming will be easier and allow you to use ANY WordPress theme out of the box. There are millions of WP themes. (See: http://wordpress.org/extend/themes)

With the 4. requirements listed all of them (depending on how you prefer to have it setup is provided out of the box)

    1. You could use a Wp blog.
    2. Post type (Post types are really easy to implement even without coding skills)
    3. Post types, again.
    4. Plugins. Would this be suitable? http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/appointy-appointment-scheduler/

I think customising P2 (Which Automatic – the company that runs WordPress.com – uses for internal communication) may suit your needs well.

Oh and with your last question, you can use your current theme (especially after 1.7). Just turn off registration, so that you create accounts manually and make it so that only logged in users can see BP pages.
