When is Privacy module coming into Buddypress

    @gwu123

    I have tried lots of social networking platforms – elgg, dolphin, mahara, etc. Today I tried Anahita which looks promising. It is open source however, not all modules are free.

    BP is undoubtedly the best open source social network platform. It has the best community support and has very useful plugins. I personally like BP because it much easier to understand and make changes than any other software out there.

    The only thing which BP lacks is the privacy settings. This is a very important and core functionality that is a must have. Not just the profile privacy settings, but privacy across all entities – groups, forums, activity, etc.

    I have 2 questions regarding this
    1. does the privacy plugin by Jeff work with BP 1.5.4? Has anyone ever tested or enhanced it?
    2. Is there ever going to be a core privacy module ever for BP? If yes, then in which version can we expect this?

    I think when prioritizing the tasks for upcoming release, this should of the highest priority. Things like theme/css bugs and changes, minor bugs can be ignored. This one feature will make this software complete.

    Thanks to all the community members for the great work.

    It doesn’t work. (properly) Yes, afew people have ‘enhanced’ it. Have a look at @modemlooper‘s privacy plugin – http://buddypress.org/community/groups/buddypress-profile-privacy/

    Yep. It’s already coded and is set to be released in 1.6 (next major update)

    Have a look at the Trac ticket that details it – http://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/3695#comment:10

    I disagree. Features should NEVER come before bugs… i hate cockroaches all over my site :(
