How to ensure my blog doesn't send my traffic away?

    Hi everyone! Yeah, I’m new so pardon me and my new guy question.

    I’ve got Multiste running, BuddPress running etc…

    I used the “Commons In A box” plugin to upload BP and a few relevant plugins.
    I have set up a a few test users and made blog posts with them.
    The way the blog is configured(?) with this “commons in a box theme” is sending all my traffic to the member sites. You find a post snippet you like, click on the title to read more and you’re sent to the members site to read the full post.

    So, my question is; how do I make it so that when they click the title to read more that they go to the blog on my site NOT the members site?

    I searched for this answer till I was blue in the face, nothing. I asked the Author of the theme I am going to buy, he gave me an answer that made no sense to me “if your using your WordPress Blog then it will work”. It doesn’t take me an hour and a half to watch the TV show 60 minutes, but I didn’t get that answer?

    Everything about WPMU & BP seem pretty straight forward so far but just not this one issue. I Googled “powered by BuddyPress” to see if I could reverse engineer what they had done. I found sites with the traffic remaining on their site and the traffic going to the members sites but no clues as to why.

    Any help to get me to understand this would be greatly appreciated.

    that last paragraph and a half is a little hard to follow at least for me the whole point of having a multisite network is to make each sub-site it’s own entity. I’m not sure if commons in a box is even designed to be run non multisite but perhaps posting your question on the commons in a box site might be more fruitful.

    That’s the default behavior. You need to install a plugin to do what you posted. I used the WordPress MU Sitewide Tags Pages. Do read the Other Notes of the plugin. It’s not been updated for 3.5.1 but it’s still working in my installation. If you find issues with the plugin, do post at https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/wordpress-mu-sitewide-tags

    @mercime i was looking at that plugin recently because this other one:

    doesn’t work anymore looking to have the ability to selectively take posts from sub-sites and repost to the main blog would the plugin you mentioned allow me to achieve that you think or am I’m DYI territory here you think? thanks!

    @ubernaut     Didn’t need that feature. It was automatic posting to main site/site of choice from all subsites. I install it, configure it a little, that’s that. For what you want, check out https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/threewp-broadcast/screenshots/

    Hi, the site wide tags plugin seems to be busted now, at least for new installs. I got a fatal error and it triggered php warnings cascading all over my Wiki because Hostgator has there error recognition cranked way up.

    Thanks though.

    Anyone know how to do what I started the thread with?

    @mercime wait, so the multisite tags thing allows you to specify certain sub-sites to automatically syndicate posts to main site? that’s part of what i want actually. i’d also like to be able to pull single posts from sites that aren’t set to automatically repost to the main.

    that other one seems to do the reverse not sure i’d want that but had seen it before and is still interesting. you aren’t saying that it allows you to broadcast from sub site to main site are you? my read was that it only worked the other way around.

    hmm just realized it doesn’t much matter the direction of syndication i’ll definitely have to check it out. so but just to confirm thought the multisite tags does allow you to specify sub-sites to have their posts automatically reposted to the main site? thanks again!
