Plugin Fails

I’m using WP version 3.5.1 and BP version 1.6.5 with the BuddyPress Scholar theme. Everytime i upload any plugin my site crashes, any ideas what would be causing this?

What do you mean by “crashes”? white screen in front end and/or backend? Errors/warnings? Have you checked server error logs? If you change from the scholar theme to bp default, does the site “crash” as well when you upload a plugin?
