By default, BuddyPress is activated in the primary site. If you want to acitivate BP in secondary blog /buddy/
https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/install-buddypress-on-a-secondary-blog/
I have tried doing that, and edited as suggested but I’m getting the same problem.
Have you installed / activated a BuddyPress compatible theme, eg bp-default, on your BuddyPress site?
That is the theme I’m currently using Roger.
And is it the activated theme on your BuddyPress site?
Do the other BuddyPress links work.. Members, groups, activity?
Hover over your profile link – which URL is it trying to send you to?
Hi Roger,
Yes it is the activated theme and all other links works well including the creation of groups.
The url for edit profile is http://www.ohracing.net/buddy/profile/theduke/edit
Your site was working fine when I went to it… clicking through to the profile worked without problem from the members directory.
Note: though your url is wrong in this thread… there should be a space (%20) between the “the%20duke”.
Which edit menu is giving you the problem? Maybe that one is stripping out spaces.
As a warning, I’d always be cautious about allowing usernames (not display names) with spaces
Hi Roger,
It was when i go to edit profile via either the admin bar or via my profile I just got kicked to the homepage!
remove the space from the username – not sure how you managed to get one in the first place; I thought BuddyPress prevented usernames with spaces
We do need to revisit this at some point. We made a switch over a year ago to use the login in the URL instead of the nickname, but I don’t exactly recall why. LDAP maybe?
I’m having the same problem.
When I try to go from here:
http://ourrealfood.org/members/Marc Brazeau/profile/ (appears like this)
http://ourrealfood.org/members/Marc%20Brazeau/profile/ (copiess and pastes with the %20)
to here
http://ourrealfood.org/members/Marc%20Brazeau/profile/edit/
I end up here
http://ourrealfood.org/
it’s the only instance of misdirection that I’ve noticed in navigating around the profile.
After reading the thread above I switched my nickname with my display name (marcbrazeau and Marc Brazeau) but that didn’t change the url. Do I have to go under the hood to change how member url’s are rendered? If so I’ll need very clear instructions because I’m not that technical.
Thanks.
Hey I’m suddenly having this exact same problem.
Did anyone find a solution?
Solved this.
Had not activated the member by email.
wow.
i’m surprised by my idiocy at times.
another possible solution: try disabling Forums and your profile links will start working again. If you had originally enabled Forums support, but didn’t complete the configuration it breaks your links.
