Edit profile fields loop

The edit profile fields loop is great if you need all fields that are text inputs to be the same (share the same markup). what if you want text inputs to be different for certain fields? perhaps some fat? some 100% width of the page, some with a green background?
Anyone ever attempted to remove the loop in edit.php and add HTML for each field manually? I was thinking of giving it a shot, the drawback is when a new field is added via WP Admin – you’d have to manually update edit.php to display the input HTML for the new field you’ve just created.
