If I close registration and send an invite via the invite anyone plugin, will the recipient of the invite be able to register a new account?

I want to close a site’s registration and only allow those invited to join. The way that BAQ invitation codes plugin (and its buddypress equivalent: @modemlooper ‘s https://github.com/modemlooper/bp-codes) does it.

But I’d prefer using just one plugin to do both, to send and track the invites and to allow the invited to register, regardless of whether the site allows or doesn’t allow regular registration.
