Custom User Registration email

I’m looking to add a checkbox to the registration as an option when people sign up. If the checkbox is enabled when someone registers, I’d like the email sent to this person to include a custom message. Otherwise, registration would be normal.
Can anyone give me information how to make this possible? Thanks.
