you need to give more information about your issue. “there is no option for this”
What do you mean???
Also, please provide some, or all of the questions from This post
my apology,
for a long time i have been posting this same ? in many different ways with no answer.
I have no option/link/way for members or myself to create a group. I am using the latest version of BP and WP. However this has been a problem for me since my initial installation of BP. I was able to create 1 group and never saw the “create a group option” again. users are also unable to create there “own” group.
I have tried deactivating all plugins. but the results were the same
Log in to your account on this site, and put this in your browser address:
http://sob-s.com/groups/create/step/group-details/
Then tell me what it says or does after that.
It takes me t a “create a group” page. exactly what i would be lookig for except i dont see it on my site neither does the users
Ok, so the forums directory the button to create the group is simply not there?
Ok thank you, is there something i can do to fix that?
Well it should be there. I wonder why it is not working?
Go into your theme, if you have the buddypress extension pack installed, or you have created your child theme, go into your theme folder, (wp-content/themes/yourtheme) and then go into the folder named “groups.” Inside there should be a file called “Index.php”
Now check to see if the following code is listed anywhere in the file, “control or command +f” will search for the term.
` <a class="button" href="”>`
If for any reason that it is not in the file, put the code above directly after this code in the file:
`
`
i see that code i think except mine has:
Your code did not appear.
Try, as @hnla said before she deleted her post to revert to the default theme and see if it appears.
If you don’t want users to see your fixing on your site, install “maintenance mode” plugin
<a class="button" href="”>
that code is in the file and no changes to “create a group” link
switch to the default theme as mentioned in my previous post
Try, as @hnla said before *she*
I said *she* ma’am!
I switched to default and that only works if i type in “create a group” in the search box.
So, the button appeared?
Or it didn’t?
yes it did on a BP default theme and only if i type in “create a group”. shouldnt it appear by default?
Are you really sure you have activated the real bp-default theme, there is only one and you do refer to ‘a’ bp default theme. It’s essential to be sure you are running BP in it’s default state theme and without any third party plugins which may upset things. The ‘Create a group’ button should appear to the right of the Groups Directory heading on the groups page.
not sure what you are talking about, “and only if I type in “create a group“
It either did, or didn’t appear?
wow….i cant see it by default neither can users. if i use a BP theme i still cant see the “create a group” option or link or w/e tech term there is…basically there is no way to create a group on my site using BP. however if i switch theme to a BP default and type in the search bar of a BP theme i will see my create a grouo option on the right of the page “ONLY IF TYPE IT IN THE SEARCH OPTION OF A bp THEME (bp default or BP columns,)”
also i can not access any of my BP pages in the search bar of my site. if i go to the BP nav bar and use the menu there everything works (except, create a group)
@hnla….is there a “real” and “fake” default theme? i have activated the
BP Columns 1.2 by modemlooper,
BuddyPress Default 1.2.7 by BuddyPress.org,
Simple WP Community Theme 1.6 by Sven Lehnert u. Konrad Sroka
it works the same exact way on all of these themes
Double check you have everything enabled in the admin section, “components setup”
yes i have checked and it’s all enabled
I tried to register on your site to see what was going on, but I didn’t receive an activation email.
Can you go an activate me in Admin panel?
(it requires a plugin, “bp pending activations)
And, just in case, post your group’s “index.php” file over at http://pastebin.com so I can look at it
