Someone show me a simple and clean site

I am trying to upgrade a group from yahoo groups to more of an online community. If buddy press is overwhelming for me, I can’t imagine what they will think.
Can you guys show me any of your sites that are very simple and clean?
Thanks in advance. I am just having a hard time getting my mind around how I would lay things out and how to get rid of the flashy-ness of some themes.

Once you’ve been inspired , you can also check out some themes that are really easy to customize. Like Custom Community (free and premium versions) http://www.custom-community.themekraft.com/ or my very own BuddyLite (freebie) or BuddyBuilder (premium) http://buddylite.com/

Our other site, wpebooks.com looks pretty simple & clean to me. We don’t use all the BP features and have private groups for support.
