mentions not working for admin but work for other members?

    I am running the latest versions of WP and BP.

    I can @mention my members and it shows up as it should in their @mention page. members can do the same with other members and it all works fine. The problem is that no members can @mention me successfully. Whenever they try it just comes up as normal text instead of a link. I have tried searching on here and Google but have been unable to locate anything yet. Any help to resolving this will be very much appreciated. Thanks and if you need any further details let me know.

    add code below to your wp-config.php file before the ‘no more edit’ comment

    `define( ‘BP_ENABLE_USERNAME_COMPATIBILITY_MODE’, true );`

    @mercime added that into wp-config.php but it still doesn’t allow members to @mention me properly. I would be willing to set up a test account for someone to try to understand the problem more if that will help.

    It’s because the admin username that you set up with for your hosing account is different from the one that buddypress mentions to, which is “admin”. Not sure why this happens, but here is how to solve it.

    Install this plugin: https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wpvn-username-changer/, and change the username to “admin”. You don’t have to change it to admin, but that’s what it says on your profile to mention to, “ @admin“.
