Latest versions of BuddyPress, bbPress, and WP installed. All plugins are up to date.

I’m trying to start a website that includes social/forum components. I have both Buddypress and bbPress installed.

I’ve messed around with it a lot. I have to admit, it’s a bit convoluted and confusing.

There seems to be a bit of cross over or conflict between Buddypress and bbPress, but I’m not sure how much, or which elements work separately.

Does Buddypress include forums? Do I need to have bbPress installed to add forum functionality? Is there a recent, detailed, step by step guide, explaining the difference?

My goal is to have a feature rich, yet very user friendly interface for my subscribers.

I’m familiar with WordPress, but somewhat new to Buddypress and bbPress. Any direction or advice is much appreciated.
