Still trying to get BP1.9 working

    I have just reinstalled BP 1.9 in the hope that it would change the situation i have with ‘page not found’ errors for all the main navigation links. I believe i did this correctly, deactivating plugins, then BuddyPress itself, uploading manually and then reactivating, I resaved my numeric permalink settings. No change, ‘page not found’ messages on all none static pages. I read the following in the BP codex on 404 errors ‘…The mod_rewrite must be enabled on your server for pretty permalinks to work’. Presumably, as everything worked before the upgrade, the mod_rewrite is still on but how can I check that? I have been to the wp-config file and turned on wp-debug and I got a pretty long list and nothing that I could really understand, probably too long to post here but i can make it available if needed. i do not know what to try next! Will someone please help?

    Look in your .htaccess file in your main directory (where wpconfig.php is) for the appropriate block… something like:

    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d

    Presume that means its on?
