Where’s my WPTheme and How to Get it Back?

I just installed Buddy Press into my wordpress site. On installation it said I had the options of installing the BuddyPress default, manual integration into my chosen theme, or a third. I choose to integrate and selected install. Instead BuddyPress took away my wp theme all together and installed the default! Now the past three hours of hard work I have put into my web site have been obliterated by Buddy Press in seconds. I love the idea behind BuddyPress and it can work very well with my site….however! I would like my site in the theme and hard work that I have designed it in. I do not see an option to uninstall BP and deactivating it means I have no site at all now just a blank screen.

How do I get my theme and work back and still be able to integrate BP into my web site?

Your WP theme files would still be in wp-content/themes/yourthemefolder

You need to install and activate the BP Template Pack plugin and go to Appearance > BP Compatibility Process.

my word press theme is in there, yes. I have moved the six folders as indicated and created a new bp-default under my wp-content/themes and transfered the folders into there. In step two I do not see my chosen theme but still the buddy press default theme. Thus I am unable to align and tweak.

oh it may seem that the buddy press is not compatible at all with That Music Theme. so now I need to figure out how to reskin the buddypress default theme seeing as it would appear I am now stuck with that or faced with restarting my entire website from scratch again.

That theme has not been updated since 2009. If you’re adventurous, you could install the Theme Check plugin and the Log Deprecated Notices plugin and bring it up to current WP standards.

You should have the WP theme of choice activated before you activate and run BP Template Pack compatibility. If you intend to use a child theme of e.g. Hybrid, then you must have that child theme activated before you activate and run BP Template pack.
