lost in buddy press

  • I had buddy press 1.0 running half decent and then upgraded to 1.1 or attempted to. Now I have a bunch of buddy press pages missing associated wordpress pages. There is a repair tab. Clicked it and up comes a page with directories and registration that have drop down menus to create new pages to associate or pick an existing one. I’m not sure what to do here or if I made a new one what to call it? Any help appreciated.

  • I think you got your version numbers messed up; you must be on 1.5 or 1.5.1 as it’s the first versions where the repair button comes in. Do you know which version of BuddyPress you were on previously? Really 1.0?

sorry I believe it was 1.5 and then 1.5.1

If you had a default installation in BP 1.5 before upgrading to BP 1.5 and did not create Pages which have slugs like that of the BuddyPress components, then choose the corresponding Page in dropdown per BuddyPress component if it’s there.

    Hi mercime

Thanks for your helpful reply. I changed Forums base to sitewide-forums & now I have a new forum eg

    http://richard-dickinson.com/sitewide-forums/forum/rhdwponlinetwist_forum-4-netnewbies/

I am still though finding it hard to understand & use BP on my site! Hopefully with time I will learn how to use it properly.

Shouldn’t this forum I have created eg rhdwponlinetwist_forum-4-netnewbies show on the top BP admin bar (my username) forums link? Clicking on that Forums link brings me to …../admin/forums page & there is no forum shown there on the forums tab? I am a little confused at the moment with BP on my site-how can I learn to use BP properly on my site?

There are no wordpress pages available that suit, only pages I created myself.

Has anyone a fix for the non associated buddy press pages to wordpress pages?

@tomcat_meow If there are no pages associated with the BP component, click on “New Page” in the same line and a page with the same slug will be automatically generated for you.

@richardpd perhaps this new illustrated step-by-step guide for group and sitewide forums will help as well — it’s not totally completed, but you’ll get the drift https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/installing-group-and-sitewide-forums/
