Hi guys I have been using wordpress for a number of years now and love it.. I have teamed up with a local businessman and we have came up with a great idea for a social networking site that users pay a small yearly membership and they will get a fully functioned social network site along with a items for sale type page all organised and looking fresh also they get access to discounts from large local businesses ie discount codes etc now my question is..

Will Buddy press handle this and are their plugin that can full fill this or am i better going else where to Socialengine and paying a licence fee.. I would like to stay at buddy press but a little concerned if it will handle the above..

BuddyPress can handle whatever you need it to. That said, it is not a turn-key community ecommerce solution, and you’ll need to patch plugins in, create s custom theme, etc… As long as you use BuddyPress/WordPress as the engine that powers your idea rather than the solution to all your problems, it makes perfect sense to start here. If you expect to install a few plugins, turn it loose, and have your ideas come to life, sadly it won’t be that easy. :)

Thanks for your input John I am just stuck between using this or a fully fledged social networking engine ie PHP fox
