Activity filter sticks until cookies removed

At the top of my BP site activity feed are several activity filter links: “My Friends”, “My Groups”, “My Favorites”, “Mentions” etc. When a user clicks on one of these, the activity feed is indeed filtered correctly. However, when they click somewhere else in the activity feed (home for instance), they rightly expect the filter to drop away and to show everything. This does NOT happen, and the filter constraint remains in place until they remove cookies for the site.
Has anyone else seen this and is there a simple resolution that we’re missing?
