“Best” Multimedia Plugin for WordPress/BuddyPress Subsites

I’m looking for a multimedia plugin to install and use on multiple WordPress/BuddyPress subsites. I want the ability to upload one type of multimedia such as image or video on a given page and store the file(s) on the host system, not embedded or on a CDN. Any suggestions [BTW, it’s unclear to me if BuddyPress Media satisfies this.]

Do post at https://buddypress.org/community/groups/bp-album/forum/ which is monitored by BP Media plugin devs

The alternative is a premium plugin, BP Gallery
