Scope of plugins

I’m investigating BuddyPress as a potential solution and am curious about how compatible standard WordPress plugins are with BuddyPress. Particularly I’m wondering about centered around users like AutoChimp [http://buddypress.org/community/groups/autochimp/]

Are users who sign-up silo’d to BuddyPress or are the in the regular WordPress system too, hopefully that question makes sense.

BP uses its own registration but every user is signed up to the WordPress blog BP is installed on. Most WP plugins work with BP. You should do your own testing to verify.
