[Resolved] Error deleting user in the Frontend

    We’ve had a problem for some time where we can’t delete users from the front-end. Previously there was the Delete User option in the top toolbar that was a direct delete link, now the link goes to the delete part of the user profile, both produce the same error:
    Fatal error: Cannot redeclare add_user() (previously declared in /home/***/public_html/wp-admin/includes/user.php:17) in /home/***/public_html/wp-admin/includes/user.php on line 18

    We can delete users from the backend, but it is a lot more effort to look at the front end to find a spammer’s username, copy it, search for it on the backend and then delete, when we’re supposed to be able to do it from the front.

    Thanks for any suggestions anyone can give.

    Hi,

    I’m having the same problem as well. I created an account and tried to delete it from the site itself via the profile page. I get an error message instead

    Fatal error: Cannot redeclare add_user() (previously declared in /home/***/public_html/pikipoky.com/wp-admin/includes/user.php:17) in /home/***/public_html/pikipoky.com/wp-admin/includes/user.php on line 18

    I had a friend create an account and he couldn’t delete his account and got the same fatal error message.

    @kristarella @shanezoom BP 1.6 version? kristarella, sounds like your install is an old one which has been upgraded and shanezoom, your install sounds like a new one if I’m not mistaken

    RE users cannot delete their own accounts
    – For BP 1.6, go to Settings > BuddyPress -> Settings and make sure that “Account Deletion” is not checked, otherwise your users are prevented from deleting that account. However, a Super/site admin can delete an account anytime.

    RE Cannot redeclare add_user error
    – I’ve seen this happen with theme and/or plugin conflicts. Have you tried changing to bp-default theme and deactivating all plugins except BuddyPress?

    The site is currently up to date, but yes, it’s been around for quite a while.

    Now that you mention it, I seem to remember thinking it was Wishlist Member (part of the network has paid memberships) that was breaking the delete feature… I’m going to have to check my old emails on the topic and see.

    @kristarella yes, it happens once in a while, sorry about that. Please do post here which plugin/theme interfered with account deletion in BP 1.6 when you find out.

    I found my previous email to my client. It turns out that I did do the deactivating plugins thing over a month ago and it was the Wishlist Member plugin causing the problem.

    I think the code for that plugin is encrypted, so there’s probably no other way to fix it than get their support :(

    Sorry to waste your time on this! But at least this thread might help others if they have the same issue.
