Tags or Categories for uploaded user images

I am using the Youzer theme of BuddyPress. I am hoping to add tags or categories to the images users will upload in the portfolio portion of their profiles, so those results can be sorted into results in a search. Is this possible in BuddyPress, Youzer or is there a third party plugin that would help to that end?

@jadedartist check with Youzer support, media is not part of BuddyPress.

I ended up using MediaPress Gallery Category with BuddyPress. It was working, but now when I select a category, I get no results. I have no idea what happened. Are there pages here to support the MediaPress Gallery Category plugin?

You’d probably have better luck and less headaches just making searchable hashtags. You can dig through https://wordpress.org/plugins/hashbuddy/ and take the few lines of code it requires.
